Turkish authorities announced that the Turkish National Intelligence Service (MIT) had arrested two people suspected of being linked to the Israeli intelligence service (Mossad), as part of a counter-espionage operation code-named “MONITUM,” according to media reports.

Reports stated that the two suspects, Mehmet Budak Derya and Faisal Karimoglu, were arrested in coordinated operations carried out by the Turkish Intelligence Service in cooperation with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Anti-Terrorism Unit of the Istanbul Police Directorate.

The cell has been working for Israeli intelligence since 2012

According to what the sources reported, the dismantled cell was suspected of having been working for Israeli intelligence since 2012, using commercial activities as a cover to collect intelligence information about Palestinian individuals and targets, and attempting to penetrate international supply chains.

The reports added that the two suspects established and managed fictitious companies, sought to export drone components, and also discussed establishing front companies abroad to hide the source and final destination of the products, under the guidance of Israeli authorities.

According to the sources, the two suspects used these networks to build social and commercial relationships with Palestinians opposed to Israeli policies, and transferred information regarding communications, movements, and facilities to Israeli intelligence.
