In contrast to the optimism about continuing the diplomatic process, the former commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Hussein Kanaani Moghadam, warned of the possibility of a near military confrontation between Iran and the United States, considering that Washington is using the negotiations as a political cover for the threat, at a time when indirect talks continue in Muscat.

He added: They want to say that if the negotiations fail, they will resort to the military option, and in return, Foreign Minister Araqchi announced that we are ready for war, and that we will not make any concession.
Kanaani Moghadam expressed his belief in the possibility of a confrontation erupting soon, saying: I think the possibility of war erupting tomorrow or the day after tomorrow is likely, as the United States returned to the negotiating table only in a formal manner, to tell the public opinion that it had tried to negotiate, but the Iranians did not back down.
He explained that the ongoing negotiations between the two parties are taking place on more than one track, noting that the first track is the field confrontation in the Arabian Gulf, where Iranian naval and missile capabilities confront American forces and aircraft carriers.
America confronts Iran
He said: The two parties are practically standing face to face, in what resembles a show of force and field negotiation, and we have proven that we are capable of directing harsh blows, and that the United States is unable to emerge victorious from this arena.
He added that the second level is the Muscat negotiations, considering that the American side is showing signs of weakness, pointing to the presence of close figures such as Jared Kushner, son-in-law of President Donald Trump, who is considered the first supporter of Israel, and the political and security messages that this carries related to Israel.
He continued: The Americans want to deliver a message that Israel and its military power are also present at the negotiating table.
He stressed that Iran’s message is clear, which is that any potential war will lead to the ignition of the entire region, pointing to the role of regional powers allied with Tehran in this context.
He said: Regional powers, such as Ansar Allah in Yemen, the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and others, send their own messages within the balance of power with the United States.
