Hamada El-Sherbiny, member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Football Association and head of the national team delegation in Morocco, spoke about the latest developments in the condition of the injured players before the upcoming confrontation with Côte d’Ivoire in the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations.
Hamada El-Sherbiny’s statements
Hamada El-Sherbiny said, in television statements, that Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet has had great determination since he suffered the injury, explaining that he is racing against time in order to recover and be present in the next match, but he has not participated in group training yet, and was content with running around the field during today’s training, provided that he undergoes medical examinations to determine the extent of his final recovery from the injury.
Hamada El-Sherbiny added that Mohamed Hamdy is considered one of the fighting players, noting that the administrative apparatus is trying to end the visa crisis regarding his travel to Germany, and if this fails, the player will travel to Egypt first and then to Germany to undergo cruciate ligament surgery.
Hamada El-Sherbiny confirmed that Muhannad Lashin participated in the group training and was ready to participate in the match from a medical standpoint, reassuring the technical staff and the fans of his condition.
Regarding the news circulating regarding technical director Hossam Hassan, the head of the mission stressed that the Federation had not received any notification from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding Captain Hossam Hassan, stressing that there were no crises in this regard.
El-Sherbiny also denied the existence of any dispute between Mostafa Mohamed and Hossam Hassan, stressing that Mostafa is one of the great players and the main pillars of the team, and everyone realizes his artistic value and his important role within the team.
Regarding the fans, El-Sherbiny explained that there are not yet any official talks about organizing trips for the fans, hoping that the team will continue its journey in the tournament, and that it will enjoy greater public support if it qualifies for the final match.
Hamada El-Sherbiny touched on what was raised about Hossam Hassan’s celebration in the Benin match, stressing that the Moroccan media did not shed light on the matter. He also pointed out that the technical director always praises the support of the Moroccan fans, and that there is no crisis at all.
