The General Authority of Meteorology revealed details of the weather condition on Friday, January 2, 2026, as very cold weather prevails in the early morning, warm during the day, and very cold at night in most areas.
Expected weather phenomena
As for the weather phenomena expected today, water mist will prevail on some roads leading to and from the north of the country as far as Greater Cairo, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt, which may reach fog and lead to reduced horizontal visibility in some areas.
Wind activity is also expected in areas of Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the northern coasts, and South Sinai, which may cause dust and sand in the New Valley Governorate during intermittent periods.
The situation of the Mediterranean and the Red Sea
Regarding the state of the sea, maritime navigation disturbance prevails on some areas of the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea, Matrouh – El Alamein – Alexandria – Beheira – Kafr El-Sheikh – Damietta – Port Said – Al-Arish – Rafah, and on the coasts of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Suez, and wind speeds reach 40 to 50 km/h.
