Today, the city of Marsa Matrouh witnessed a wave of dense dust that covered the streets and blocked the view in a number of areas, coinciding with noticeable wind activity.
Lifting the state of emergency due to heavy dust in Matrouh
The dust storm caused a decline in horizontal visibility, especially on coastal and open roads, and a number of citizens preferred to remain in their homes until weather conditions improved. The city’s Corniche also witnessed limited movement compared to usual days.
For its part, the executive authorities lifted the state of emergency to monitor weather developments, while warning drivers to be careful while driving, especially on highways, to avoid accidents resulting from low visibility.
The dust wave comes as part of the weather fluctuations witnessed in the western coastal region, amid expectations that it will gradually subside as the wind speed stabilizes during the coming hours.
