Dr. Iman Karim, General Supervisor of… National Council for Persons with Disabilities, The Council aspires to build serious and fruitful cooperation with members of the new government, ensuring that constitutional articles and presidential mandates are transformed into clear executive policies that create a real and sustainable impact on the lives of persons with disabilities and their families.
She appreciated President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to the new government, issued within the framework of the Egyptian state’s vision aimed at consolidating the principles of equality and non-discrimination, and developing plans that respond to citizens’ aspirations and raise human value, stressing that the next stage requires working in accordance with the citizen-first principle.
Fruitful cooperation with the new government to translate presidential directives into reality
She explained that the highest priority must be given to comprehensive accessibility files for people with various types of disabilities, especially spatial, digital and information accessibility, as it is the basic foundation for empowerment and full inclusion in all aspects of life.
It also stressed the importance of expanding social protection and economic empowerment programs, supporting decent employment opportunities, while activating legally stipulated hiring rates, and providing real incentives to the private sector to enhance the employment of people with disabilities.
In a related context, she pointed out the importance of the return of the Ministry of State for Information as one of the vital arms of the state in the field of awareness, building bridges of communication with public opinion, and measuring its attitudes towards various issues, in addition to its role in monitoring rumors and information circulating from unofficial sources, and confronting them.
She thanked and appreciated the former ministers for their efforts in supporting and promoting the rights of persons with disabilities, praising their fruitful cooperation with the Council, stressing the continuation of coordination and joint work with the new ministers on various files of persons with disabilities during the next stage.
