Hajja Awatif Al-Akkad, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Light and Hope Association in Beni Suef Governorate, nicknamed “Mother of the Blind,” passed away after a long journey of giving and community and humanitarian work, as she was considered one of the most prominent pioneers of civil society work in the governorate.

The deceased was known for her dedication and sincerity in serving people of determination, especially the blind, as she devoted many years of her life to supporting, empowering and integrating them into society, through the activities and initiatives presented by the association, which made her enjoy great prestige and wide appreciation among the people of the governorate.

Hajja Awatif Al-Akkad left a clear humanitarian imprint in the field of social work, as she contributed sincere efforts to improving the quality of life of many beneficiaries of the association’s services, and was a role model for volunteer work and community service.

A number of officials from various directorates in Beni Suef Governorate mourned the deceased, and social media sites witnessed a state of sadness, and a large number of citizens and civil society leaders were keen to offer their condolences, praising her career and great humanitarian giving.
