Sony is expected to announce full specifications for the WF-1000XM6 earbuds on February 12, but those details appear to have leaked early. Sony has already confirmed that the launch of the headphones will be on the aforementioned date, as the company was expected to reveal the full specifications on the same day. However, the new leak seems to have given us a clear picture of what Sony’s upcoming headphones will offer.
The leak comes from Billbil-kun, which has a strong record of accurate product leaks. We’ve already gotten a first look at the WF-1000XM6 through a retailer listing, and color options have also leaked earlier. However, the new information focuses entirely on technical specifications and upgrades.
The biggest upgrade is the new QN3e processor, which is said to be three times faster than the chip used in the WF-1000XM5. This processor works with eight adaptive microphones instead of six, which should lead to more stable and effective noise cancellation. Sony has also updated the audio hardware, including a new amplifier, an improved digital-to-analog converter (DAC), and a better amplifier, which should improve clarity and overall sound quality.
The earbuds also use a redesigned shape that provides better airflow, and insulated ear tips for improved comfort. It also adds a “360 Reality Audio” feature with head tracking, and a smarter “Ambient Sound” mode that automatically adapts using three different profiles.
Noise control is handled by Adaptive Noise Cancellation, multiple surround modes, and the new processor, while audio support includes Hi-Res Wireless via LDAC codec, DSEE Extreme to upscale audio files, and custom EQ settings. Battery life is estimated at up to eight hours for the earbuds, with an additional 16 hours provided by the charging case.
