Pope Leo
The Pope said that the wealth of the earth has become concentrated in the hands of a very few, during his last public meeting this year, which had been declared a jubilee year by decision of his predecessor, Pope Francis.
The Supreme Pontiff stressed that wealth has become unfairly accumulated in the hands of those he described as often not listening to the groaning of the land and the suffering of the poor, stressing that this reality is inconsistent with human and moral values.
Promoting the spirit of solidarity and shared responsibility
He added that God wanted the bounties of creation to be available to all, so that people could share them in a fair and equitable manner, calling for strengthening the spirit of solidarity and shared responsibility.
At the conclusion of his speech, the Pope urged believers to cling to hope, stressing that the end of the jubilee year does not mean the end of the message it carried. He said: “The jubilee is approaching its end, but the hope that this year has given us does not end, and we will remain pilgrims of hope.”
