The trial of the Venezuelan president in the United States
The American ABC News channel said that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro will appear before the federal court in Manhattan on Monday, and will face an indictment on four charges, including leading or participating in a network to smuggle large quantities of drugs into the United States, and cooperating with armed groups classified as terrorists.
Yesterday, President Donald Trump announced that the United States successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela, early Saturday morning, and that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife were arrested and flown out of the country.
President Donald Trump’s announcement came a few hours after explosions rocked the Venezuelan capital, Caracas.
American media published pictures of Nicolas Maduro in handcuffs, accompanied by Drug Enforcement Administration Director Terry Cole and other federal agents after his arrival in New York on Saturday.
After arriving at Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh, New York, Maduro was transported by helicopter to New York City and then to the Urban Detention Center in Brooklyn.
