The English Guardian newspaper said that the Confederation of African Football is considering postponing the African Nations Championship for a year to be held in 2028 instead of next year, due to doubts about the readiness of the host countries, and fears of a lack of infrastructure readiness, as well as some problems that appeared during the African Nations for locals.
At the same time, Ghanaian journalist Mickey Junior, who specializes in African affairs, confirmed that the 2027 African Nations Championship will be held on time as planned, noting that CAF has not taken any official decision to postpone it yet.

Meanwhile, Foot Africa newspaper confirmed that CAF is expected to resolve the conflicting news about the fate of the 2027 African Nations, and clarify the official position of the tournament during the next Executive Committee meeting.
It is noteworthy that the Confederation of African Football granted the trio Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania the right to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, after competing with Egypt and Senegal.
