Today, Saturday, the Second Terrorism Circuit decided to postpone the trial of 11 defendants in Case No. 68534 of 2024, Al-Haram Felony, known in the media as “Cell D.”Live the pyramid The second” for the April 24 witness session.
Referral order
The referral order revealed that the case dates back to a period of time extending from 2011 until November 26, 2022, when the first defendant assumed leadership of a terrorist group that was established in contravention of the provisions of the law, and aimed to disrupt state institutions from performing their work, attack the personal freedoms of citizens, and threaten national security, national unity, and social peace, by calling for a change in the government system by force, targeting public facilities, and attacking individuals.
According to the same order, the second to the eleventh defendants were charged with joining the terrorist group with full knowledge of its extremist purposes and goals, and the second and fourth defendants were also charged with financing terrorism.
The indictment also included additional charges against the second defendant, most notably the illegal possession of firearms, as it was found that he possessed a loaded automatic rifle, as well as two unloaded firearms, as part of the terrorist group’s activity.
This case is an extension of a series of cases related to ISIS inside Egypt, and is part of the state’s efforts to confront and besiege terrorist outposts that threaten the security and safety of society, and the upcoming sessions are scheduled to witness decisive developments in the course of the trial.
