Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting with Dr. Magdy El-Sayed, CEO of the Vaccines and Biotechnology City, and his accompanying delegation. To review the latest developments in the strategic project.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Ministry’s official spokesman, explained that the meeting focused on the current executive situation, including production capacity, technology transfer agreements, enhancing technical capabilities, and the possibility of concluding partnerships with research bodies and national bodies. To ensure institutional integration and sustainability of implementation.

Abdel Ghaffar added that the meeting addressed the most prominent challenges facing the localization of the vaccine industry, especially financing, international accreditation and quality requirements, and technology transfer from international partners, in implementation of a presidential vision aimed at strengthening national health security and achieving self-sufficiency in the production of human and veterinary vaccines.

The attendees reviewed the complete manufacturing stages from initial production to final packaging, what was achieved during the past period, and the future action plan based on the One Health principle, which links human, animal and environmental health, in addition to international partnerships supporting the localization of the industry.

The spokesman confirmed that the city obtained the Smart Gold License as a strategic project, adopts an environmentally friendly design in accordance with the latest international standards, and includes three factories for human vaccines, three for veterinary vaccines, and a central factory for packaging with the highest quality standards.

The meeting discussed the size of the vaccine market in Egypt and Africa, and the status of current manufacturers, with an emphasis on signing international cooperation agreements to transfer advanced technology.

The Minister directed the formation of a coordination committee that includes all manufacturers and concerned parties. To enhance cooperation and strongly localize the industry.
