Preparing a body Suez Canal To hold a joint press conference with Maersk International Group, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in the New Marina Building in Ismailia.

The conference aims to discuss the latest developments related to the return of Maersk ships to sailing in the canal, and to present the current status of navigation traffic, navigational activities and maritime services provided by the Authority.

The event includes a presentation by Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, and Vincent Clerc, Executive Director of the APMoller-Maersk Group, will deliver a speech about the cooperation between the Authority and the group in supporting global maritime trade movement through the canal.

This conference represents an opportunity to learn about the procedures and updates implemented by the Suez Canal Authority during the past period, to ensure the stability and smoothness of maritime navigation in one of the most important strategic waterways in the world.

Earlier, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, discussed ways to enhance future cooperation with the Maersk Group, during his meeting with Vincent Clerc, CEO of the APMoller-Maersk Group, Rabab Boulos, Chief Operating Officer and Member of the Executive Board of the APMoller-Maersk Group, Ahmed Hassan, Vice President of Operations for the APMoller-Maersk Group, and Hani El-Nadi, representative of the APMoller-Maersk Group of Companies in the Middle East and North Africa, via video technology. Conference, and the meeting discussed future sailing plans in light of positive indicators of developments in the situation in the Red Sea region.

At the beginning of the meeting, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie stressed the depth of the strategic relations between the Suez Canal Authority and Maersk Group, which was clearly demonstrated in the results of the fruitful meeting that brought together President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and Robert Oggla, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Maersk Group.

Lieutenant General Rabie added that, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership to strengthen the strategic partnership, the Suez Canal is looking to enhance cooperation with the Maersk Group in new areas such as ship scrapping, container construction and repair, arsenal development, logistical activities and other fields.

The Chairman of the Authority stressed that the opportunity has become ripe to return to transiting the Suez Canal again, and to seriously consider adjusting sailing schedules and implementing test voyages for the group’s container ships.
