Rashwan explained, during television statements, that former US President Donald Trump is putting serious pressure on the Israeli government to ensure compliance with the agreement, noting that the second phase was scheduled 72 hours after the signing of the agreement in Egypt, but it was delayed due to Netanyahu’s reservations about handing over weapons and his position on the conditions of the second phase.
Rashwan pointed out that the agreement includes international supervision and specific measures to ensure peace, and that the United States is working to impose Israel’s commitment to the second phase, including the issue of Hamas’ weapons, stressing that the main goal is to achieve lasting peace and ensure stability in the region.
Rashwan added that the Egyptian side seeks to strengthen the agreement by adding points related to nuclear inspections and involving Iran and Israel in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, to ensure a balance of commitments and achieve a comprehensive and sustainable peace.
