During his inspection of Karnak International Hospital in Luxor, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, was keen to reassure himself of the level of services provided to patients, by conducting friendly dialogues with a number of patients in the hospital’s various departments.

English tourist: I am receiving high-quality hotel treatment

During the Prime Minister’s inspection of the Oncology Department, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly conducted a friendly dialogue with a number of patients who were being prepared for a chemotherapy session, and inquired from them about the level of service provided to them in this department, and about the period during which they receive sessions with this treatment. One of the elderly patients explained that he has been receiving this treatment for nearly a year, and that the level of health care and treatment is very high and tangible, saying: “The medical service is excellent…and all the departments in which I have been treated are ten out of ten.”

In the children’s nurseries department, the Prime Minister learned about the level of availability of nurseries for children in the governorate, as Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki explained that nurseries are provided for all children who need them at the governorate level, and there are no waiting lists at all in this department, indicating that cases are followed up through the availability of “iPad” devices, to learn about the medical history and follow up on the medical condition of the children.

Dr. Mustafa Madbouly also inspected a hotel room in which an English tourist was present, and had a friendly conversation with him, welcoming him to Egypt and to the city of Luxor in particular. Then he inquired from him about the level of service provided to him, and the patient explained that he was receiving high-level hotel treatment.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to adhere to the availability of the highest level of medical and therapeutic services in hospitals and all health facilities affiliated with the Health Care Authority, to provide high-quality health service to the citizens of Luxor, and those who frequent it from other Upper Egypt governorates, especially since these health facilities are frequented by hundreds of foreign patients, given that it is primarily a tourist governorate, which requires us to take this into account as well.

In this context, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki stressed that care is being taken to significantly raise the quality of medical and therapeutic services in accordance with the highest international standards in various specialties, and that patients are charged very little money for the services provided to them, citing the example of performing a surgical operation on a 6-year-old girl that cost 3 million and 600 thousand pounds, but the girl’s family paid only 428 pounds.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki added that the state bears all expenses for examinations and tests on patients, in addition to performing surgical operations on patients attending comprehensive health insurance hospitals, and beneficiaries only pay 10%, regardless of the cost of the surgical operations, or any type of treatment.
