Major General Dr. Khaled Mubarak Bakri, Governor of South Sinai, participated in the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Beach Licensing, which was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Hani Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, and in the presence of Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment, and Major General Dr. Khaled Mujawar, Governor of North Sinai, within the framework of supporting tourism and investment development efforts in South Sinai Governorate, and promoting optimal exploitation of beaches while preserving the coastal environment.

The meeting was also attended by Major General Dr. Nehad Shaheen, Deputy Minister of Transport for Maritime Transport, Dr. Hazem Al-Deeb, Deputy Governor of the Lake, Engineer Mohamed Ghattas, Head of the Coastal Protection Authority, Major General Hassan Al-Jaziri, Head of the Maritime Transport Sector, and Major General Adel Ezzat Al-Behairi, Assistant Head of the Engineering Authority for Marine Projects, along with representatives of the National Center for State Land Uses, the National Center for Water Research, the Coastal Protection Authority, and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones.
Representatives of the Ministries of Defense, Transport, Environment, Local Development, Housing, Tourism and Antiquities, as well as representatives of the coastal governorates, namely Port Said, Beheira, Red Sea, South Sinai, North Sinai, Matrouh, Alexandria, and Suez, also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, the committee discussed a number of topics related to the South Sinai Governorate, where five topics were presented related to investment projects and licenses in the coastal area of the governorate, in accordance with environmental controls and regulated technical standards, the most important of which was the approval to establish a pedestrian marina and a new yacht marina in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh, which will contribute to supporting marine tourism and enhancing the city’s position as a global destination for yachts.
The approvals also included adjusting the conditions of beach facilities in one of the major hotels in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh in accordance with the approved environmental requirements, adjusting the conditions of beach facilities in one of the hotels in the city of Dahab, within the framework of regulating beach uses and preserving the environmental character of the city, establishing service beach facilities in one of the hotels in the city of Dahab in a way that supports tourism activity and provides integrated services to visitors, legalizing beach, service and entertainment facilities in one of the hotels in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh, in order to ensure the continuity of tourism activity within the framework of Regulated legal.
The Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation stressed the importance of holding meetings of the Supreme Committee for Beach Licensing periodically, to facilitate investors and support license applicants, while emphasizing the necessity of presenting projects to the committee before starting implementation, in order to preserve the balance of the beaches and the marine environment.
For his part, the Governor of South Sinai stressed that the approval of these projects reflects the state’s serious approach towards supporting sustainable tourism investment, stressing the governorate’s keenness to achieve a balance between attracting investments and protecting natural resources, and continuous coordination with the concerned authorities to ensure that the projects are implemented in accordance with the highest environmental and legal standards.
