Major General Mohamed Alwan, Governor of Assiut, conducted a surprise evening field tour in the western neighborhood of Assiut, to monitor the level of public cleanliness in the streets and squares, and to determine the needs of citizens in person, accompanied by Dr. Mina Emad, Deputy Governor, within the framework of direct follow-up of executive performance and evaluation of the level of services provided in implementation of the directives of the political leadership.
The governor began his tour by inspecting a number of main and secondary streets in the neighborhood, where he noticed an accumulation of waste on Al-Sabil Street in the Sayed area. He immediately led a massive campaign to remove it with the participation of Gharb district equipment, led by Mamdouh Jabr, the district head and cleaning officials. He followed the work of removing waste in the field, moment by moment, directing the speedy completion of the work and the restoration of discipline and the civilized appearance of the street, stressing that public cleanliness represents a major priority and an essential axis in improving the quality of life for citizens.
The Governor of Assiut stressed the necessity of adhering to periodic cleaning programs, not allowing any garbage collection spots to return, intensifying continuous field traffic on vital streets, and taking deterrent legal measures against any negligence or violations that would harm the general appearance of the city.
The governor also quickly alerted the owners of vacant lands within the Gharb neighborhood of the need to clean them and surround them with appropriate fences, to prevent throwing garbage or exploiting them randomly. He stressed that he would not allow these spaces to be turned into neglected points or a source of distortion of the cultural landscape, and to study the possibility of exploiting some of these lands as open playgrounds to serve the people of the region, in a way that serves the community instead of remaining hotbeds for waste.
In a related context, the governor issued a directive to hold an urgent coordination meeting that includes representatives from the East and West neighborhoods and the housing, roads and traffic directorates, to develop an integrated vision for traffic planning in a number of streets, in addition to preparing a comprehensive vision for developing and beautifying the squares, in a way that contributes to achieving better traffic flow and improving the image and visual vision of the city of Assiut.
Major General Muhammad Alwan stressed that the field presence will remain an essential tool for evaluating performance and correcting any observations immediately, noting that the current stage aims to restore discipline to Assiut Street and improve the civilized appearance, in line with the aspirations of citizens.
