The Gabonese Federation lifts the government suspension and exclusion of players after the farewell of the African Nations

The Federation explained, in an official statement, that the decision came on Monday, January 12, 2026, after official correspondence with the Gabonese Ministry of Sports, which in turn confirmed the lifting of all restrictions imposed on the team and the return of sports activity normally.

The Gabonese government had previously taken a decision to immediately dissolve the national team’s technical staff, suspend the first team’s activity indefinitely, in addition to excluding Aubameyang and Ekwele Manga, after bidding farewell to the Africa Cup of Nations in the group stage with disappointing results.

In a letter addressed to the Gabonese Football Federation, Sports Minister Paul-Ulrich Kissane stressed the importance of the next stage, especially with the draw for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations approaching, calling on the federation to take the necessary steps and provide the ministry with all the practical details related to selecting the new technical staff.

The Gabonese Football Association welcomed the lifting of government measures, considering the decision a positive step that would restore stability to Gabonese football and create the atmosphere to prepare for the upcoming elections.
