Yesterday, Tuesday, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, received Dr. Mohamed Lotfy, Member of the Senate Foreign, Arab and African Affairs Committee and President of the British University in Egypt, within the framework of communicating with academic and intellectual institutions and supporting their role in serving Egyptian foreign policy priorities.

The meeting discussed the pivotal role played by universities and educational institutions in building awareness, especially through academic and cultural exchange and cooperation with international partners.

Minister Badr Abdel Aty praised the role played by the British University in Egypt in preparing qualified cadres capable of contributing effectively to serving Egyptian society for more than twenty years, and as one of the leading models in supporting higher education and scientific research in Egypt, and promoting cultural and intellectual dialogue.

Minister Abdel Aty also stressed the importance of strengthening the partnership between academic institutions and government agencies, as it is a fundamental pillar for building a future based on knowledge and innovation, which contributes to supporting the national priorities and goals of the Egyptian state.

The meeting also reviewed the existing areas of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the British University in Egypt in the field of training and building the capabilities of African cadres, within the framework of the programs implemented by the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development, which reflects Egypt’s commitment to supporting national capabilities in sisterly African countries, enhancing South-South cooperation, and consolidating the pioneering Egyptian role in the fields of development and human building on the African continent, as well as cooperation in the field of training on human rights topics, within the framework of the Center for Human Rights Studies and Training at the British University in Egypt.

Minister Abdel Ati stressed the keenness to spread the culture of human rights and build institutional capacities in this field, in line with the national human rights strategy, enhance the exchange of experiences and knowledge, and support national and regional cadres concerned with these issues.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Badr Abdel Aty stressed the keenness to continue coordination and cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and national academic institutions, which contributes to strengthening Egyptian soft power, consolidating Egypt’s regional and international role, and supporting the state’s efforts in the fields of education and development.
