The mother of the girl, called Amina, said in a post on her Facebook account that the purpose of visiting the exhibition was to buy books only, stressing that what happened was not planned or expected, and that the controversy that arose came as a surprise to the family.
She added: God is witness that we came to the exhibition only to buy books, but what happened happened, in reference to the controversy that accompanied the appearance of the little girl, which topped the social media platforms during the past hours.
The girl’s mother expressed her concern for her daughter and her family, calling on God to protect them from all evil, saying: I ask God to protect my daughter and my entire family from all evil, in a message that carried a clear humanitarian and religious character.
She also concluded her comment with a prayer, calling for steadfastness and reassurance, as she said: Oh God, make our hearts firm in your religion and make us among the righteous. Our Lord, grant us from our wives and offspring the comfort of our eyes and make us leaders for the righteous.
This comes in light of the widespread controversy sparked by the appearance of the veiled girl inside Book Fair 2026, where opinions were divided between supporters who see wearing the niqab for children as a personal freedom and a family choice, and opponents who considered the matter a matter of societal debate, which pushed the issue to the forefront of interaction on social media platforms over the past few days.
