back Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, in a video clip circulating on social media platforms, where he is shopping in a store in Damascus using the new Syrian currency.
This public appearance comes days after widespread rumors circulated about his exposure to gunfire inside the Republican Palace on December 30, which allegedly led to his being critically injured and his isolation from public life.
The Syrian Interior denies the assassination attempt
The video, whose source or exact date of filming has not been announced by official authorities, shows Al-Sharaa smiling and dealing with the seller with new denomination banknotes, in his first field appearance since the currency announcement ceremony on December 29.
The Syrian Interior Ministry, through spokesman Nour al-Din al-Baba, denied the validity of the news about targeting al-Sharaa, describing it as baseless.
Ministry spokesman Nour El-Din Al-Baba said that the rumors were circulated along with false statements that were falsely attributed to official bodies, in an attempt to mislead public opinion.
