Lawyer Karim Al-Behairi said that the New Cairo Court sitting in the Fifth Settlement ruled to punish Amir Al-Hilali, known in the media as the car restor, with 3 years’ imprisonment and a bail of 100,000 pounds, in the case of a bad check, in case No. 13419 of 2025.

Earlier, the Economic Court recently postponed the second session of the trial of businessman Amir Al-Hilali, known in the media as the car driver, in the case in which he is accused of money laundering, against the backdrop of the incidents of fraud and seizure of citizens’ funds, to the next session of May 13.

The referral order revealed that the defendant, Amir Al-Hilali, obtained huge sums of money estimated at approximately 95,516,374 pounds during the period from 2023 to 2025, as a result of criminal activity represented by concluding contracts with victims to import cars, in exchange for cash amounts in exchange for service and contracts, and then refrained from implementing the obligations or returning the money.

Investigations proved that the defendants – including Amir Al-Hilali and a law partner – worked to hide and camouflage the source of these illegal funds in various ways, namely transferring the contractors’ amounts from the accounts of one of the companies to their personal accounts, instead of using them for the agreed-upon purpose of importing cars, as well as making mutual transfers between personal accounts and Lemans Group, to give the money a legal status and hide its source.
