A short while ago, a number of family members of the victim, Karima, the victim of the case known in the media as the “Bride of Menoufia,” arrived at the Shebin El-Kom Criminal Court, to attend the trial session of the accused who ended her life, in light of a state of sadness and anticipation that grips the family members.
The audience included the victim’s father And her mother Her sister and grandfather, in addition to Ahmed Tolba, the family lawyer, were keen to be present from the first hours to follow the progress of the session and determine what new decisions would result from it.
Signs of severe emotional distress appeared on family members, especially as details of the incident that shook the street continued to circulate, after the victim was killed while she was at the beginning of her married life, in addition to her pregnancy in her first months.
The victim’s family affirmed its adherence to its legal right to retribution, demanding that the maximum penalty be imposed on the accused, and rejecting any attempts to reduce his criminal responsibility, especially in light of the defense making allegations related to his psychological state.
This session comes amid widespread popular and media follow-up, awaiting what the court will decide regarding the completion of the procedures, most notably the results of the defendant’s psychiatric report.
