The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir invites you to attend a symposium on the book The Corpse Reader
The symposium takes attendees on a historical journey through the memoirs of Sir Sidney Smith, the founder of forensic medicine in Egypt, which reveal details of mysterious cases and secrets from Egypt’s royal history, as told through his experience in the field of anatomy and forensic medicine.
Journalist Mustafa Obaid, the translator of the book and a researcher in history, will participate in the symposium, while the dialogue will be moderated by director, writer and content creator Sameh Sanad, in a discussion that highlights the historical and humanitarian aspects of the book.
The symposium is scheduled to be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 12:00 noon, at the Egyptian Museum Library in Cairo, with attendance available for free without the need for prior reservation.
This event comes within the framework of the Egyptian Museum’s role in spreading historical culture and making knowledge available to the public through various intellectual and cultural activities.
