
Dr. Abdel Aziz Qanswa, President of Alexandria University, received members of the Egypt Award for Government Excellence Committee, as part of the evaluation and arbitration work for the Alexandria University Award for Internal Excellence in its first edition of 2025.
This came in the presence of Dr. Afaf Al-Awfi, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Mahmoud Zaki, former President of Tanta University and member of the judging committee, Dr. Mohamed Anwar, head of the internal award team at Alexandria University, and Dr. Ahmed Siddiq, Director of Evaluation and Quality of the Egypt Award for Government Excellence, along with a number of evaluation and logistical support officials, the evaluation team, and the management of the award project at the university.
In his speech, Dr. Abdel Aziz Qanswa welcomed the members of the Egypt Award for Government Excellence Committee at Alexandria University, stressing the university’s keenness to consolidate the system of excellence within all its departments and facilities, which contributes to developing institutional performance and enhancing the university’s competitiveness at the regional and international levels. He added that the university has a number of centers of excellence that aim to improve the quality of services provided to university employees and the surrounding community, in addition to adopting the best practices of institutional excellence.
The University President pointed out that Alexandria University pays special attention to developing infrastructure in accordance with sustainability standards, in addition to investing in the human element and benefiting from the distinguished competencies that the university abounds, in addition to expanding programs and dual degrees in cooperation with major international universities.
For her part, Dr. Afaf Al-Awfi stressed Alexandria University’s keenness to sustain the application of the institutional excellence system, noting that the university received the “Most Sustainable University in Africa for the Year 2025” award, according to the results of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025, which were announced on December 5, 2025 during the international ceremony hosted by Taiwan with the participation of hundreds of universities from different countries of the world. She explained that this achievement represents a qualitative addition to the university’s journey towards… Global leadership in the fields of environment and sustainability.
In turn, Dr. Mahmoud Zaki expressed his appreciation for the commitment of Alexandria University and its leadership to spreading the culture of institutional excellence and investing in distinguished human competencies, ensuring the sustainability of development and achieving excellence within the university.
Dr. Ahmed Siddiq also praised the efforts made by the award’s internal management team in its various stages, stressing that investing in academic and administrative cadres of excellence ambassadors and internal residents represents the basic foundation for sustainable institutional development. He explained that the prestige of Alexandria University and its academic history impose an ongoing commitment to devoting a culture of quality and excellence. He expressed his aspiration for one of the university’s colleges to reach the honor platform of the National Award during the next stage, which reflects its readiness to compete at the national level.
The meeting covered a comprehensive discussion of the results of the evaluation process, starting with the training programs for excellence ambassadors and internal evaluators, passing through the number of nomination applications, which reached 18 colleges, and the evaluation stages and field visits, leading to the presentation of the final results and final recommendations that aim to support development efforts and consolidate the culture of institutional excellence within Alexandria University.
