Spotify has announced a hike in Premium subscription prices in the United States, along with Estonia and Latvia. According to the announcement, the new monthly fees will become $12.99 instead of $11.99, with the new prices starting from the invoice date next February.

The prices of other subscription plans will also increase, as the price of the Duo plan will become $18.99 instead of $16.99, the Family plan will be $21.99 instead of $19.99, while the Student plan will increase from $5.99 to $6.99 per month.

Although an increase of one or two dollars may seem small, frequent changes in the prices of various subscriptions may cause frustration for users in the long run. Notices will be sent to subscribers affected by this change to inform them of the new increase.

Spotify said that “occasional price updates” in its various markets “reflect the value they provide,” and enable it to “continue to provide the best possible experience” and support artists, although the additional amounts do not go directly to the artists as might be understood from the official statement.
