Ibrahim explained, during statements to the Cabinet Information Center, that most hacking attempts and cyber attacks exploit the behavior of the user himself, as a result of negligent treatment of personal data, such as sharing photos, private information, and details of daily life on social networking sites, or using secret numbers that are weak and easy to guess.
He stressed the importance of adhering to a number of preventive measures, most notably activating automatic updates for phones and applications, using the two-factor authentication feature, and choosing strong passwords linked to a reliable phone number, stressing that these steps significantly reduce the chances of hacking.
He also warned against dealing with malicious advertisements or clicking on unknown links, whether via text messages or social media, pointing out that opening these links represents one of the most dangerous ways to control phones and steal data.
He concluded his statements by emphasizing that caution and digital awareness are the citizen’s first line of defense, calling on everyone not to interact with any messages or links of unknown origin.
