The Bakery Division warns against selling subsidized loafs for more than 20 piasters
Ghorab said, in television statements, that the division monitored some individual violations, including an incident in a tourist bakery that witnessed a minor argument, but it was dealt with immediately, stressing that a warning alone is not enough, and that any tampering will be met with severe penalties, up to closure for three months, withdrawal of the license, or reduction of the quota.
The head of the division explained that oversight of bakeries “continues on a daily basis” through seven supervisory authorities in the Ministry of Supply, pointing out that the incident of using bread dispensing machines outside bakeries is not apparent, but rather an individual case that was seized and legal measures were taken against it.
Regarding the Ministry of Interior’s seizure of 10 tons of subsidized flour, Ghorab explained that the incident was linked to a transport vehicle that was moving without a license, and the flour shipment was discovered inside it, stressing full cooperation with the Ministry of Interior in this case.
Ghorab renewed his appeal to bakery owners to fully adhere to the agreed-upon prices and weights, saying: “Warning and punishment together… Any violation will be dealt with immediately in order to preserve the citizen’s right.”
