The Academy was represented in this important international event by Dr. Gina El-Feki, Acting President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, where she delivered a pivotal speech during which she reviewed the experience of Egyptian-French cooperation in the field of scientific research, with a focus on the Franco-Egyptian Imhotep Program, as it is one of the most successful models of sustainable bilateral scientific partnerships.

Dr. Gina El-Feki stressed that the Imhotep Program, which the Academy has implemented in Egypt since 2004, is a pioneering program to support the movement of researchers between the two countries, and embodies a common vision to enhance long-term scientific and technical cooperation, which contributes to building a more integrated research system capable of facing global challenges.

She explained that the program aims to: enhance bilateral scientific and technological cooperation between Egypt and France, support joint research projects, movement of scientists and experts, organize knowledge exchange events, and establish sustainable institutional partnerships that allow effective scientific communication and world-class cooperation in various disciplines.

She pointed out that the Imhotep Program projects extend for 24 months and include broad scientific fields, including: engineering, environmental sciences, mathematics, earth and space sciences, water, physics, chemistry, life sciences, medicine and health, in addition to the humanities.

Dr. Gina El-Feki reviewed the tangible outcomes of the Egyptian-French partnership within the framework of the program, which reflect the real impact of research cooperation, as the partnership resulted in: publishing 226 scientific research in peer-reviewed international scientific journals, supervising 16 doctoral theses and 5 master’s theses, and organizing 16 joint scientific symposiums.

She stressed that these results contributed to linking the Egyptian and French research systems, enhancing cooperation in the fields of research and innovation, and exchanging experiences, in addition to identifying new challenges and mechanisms for dealing with them, in a way that supports the formulation of more influential and sustainable joint research programs.

At the conclusion of her speech, Dr. Gina El-Feki stressed the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology’s commitment to continue supporting and strengthening this strategic partnership, building on the achievements achieved, and opening new horizons for scientific and academic cooperation, in a way that serves the development priorities of the two countries and contributes to enriching the scientific movement at the regional and international levels.
