The opening session of the activities of the Fourth International Conference for Basic and Applied Sciences, organized by the Faculty of Science for Girls in Cairo, under the title “Future Sciences… Efforts and Challenges,” at Al-Azhar Conference Center in Nasr City, in the presence of an elite group of academic and scientific leaders and representatives of state institutions and the private sector, witnessed a speech by Khaled Abdullah – Advisor to the Minister of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health, on behalf of Minister of Labour Muhammad Gibran, during which he stressed the Ministry’s full emphasis on supporting the state’s efforts in empowering youth, qualifying graduates, and linking the educational process to the requirements of the labor market.
Advisor to the Minister of Labor: Specialized programs to raise the skills of graduates and meet the needs of the labor market
The minister’s advisor praised the pioneering role of Al-Azhar University and the Faculty of Science for Girls, headed by Dr. Samia Al-Husseini, and the scientific coordination efforts led by Dr. Nashwa Mustafa, in preparing generations capable of keeping pace with future sciences. He explained that the Ministry of Labor had, during the last period, coordinated with the “Ebda Edu” company – one of the presidency’s programs – and with faculty members at the college, to prepare an integrated training plan aimed at raising the efficiency of recent graduates and developing their practical skills in a way that increases their chances of joining the labor market locally and internationally, pointing out that The Ministry requests graduates’ data to provide them with distinguished job opportunities within the Ministry in support of young talents.
He also announced the launch of the national file for occupational safety and health, in preparation for launching the comprehensive national strategy in this field, within the framework of the state’s commitment to spreading the culture of safety and protecting the Egyptian worker, in line with the objectives of the new labor law. He pointed to the implementation of broad awareness campaigns in several sectors, including the building and construction sectors, and delivery workers through the “Your Safety is Important to Us” campaign, and the marble and granite sectors, commercial centers, and hotels, in a way that contributes to raising professional awareness and improving the work environment.
He stressed the start of joint cooperation with the National Media and Egyptian Television Authority to produce awareness programs and messages targeting families, students, and workers, in addition to coordination with the Ministry of Education to include the concepts of occupational safety and health within the school curricula. At the end of his speech, the minister’s advisor sent a message to the graduates urging them to seize training and development opportunities, stressing that the Ministry of Labor will continue to support young people, and believe in their ability to lead the development process.
