South Sinai Governorate has lifted a state of emergency, due to weather fluctuations and strong winds sweeping the cities of the governorate during the day, Tuesday, in anticipation of rain or any accidents that may occur due to strong winds laden with sand and dust on the open roads leading to and from South Sinai.
Today, weather fluctuations prevailed in the cities of South Sinai and a slight drop in temperatures since this morning, despite the stability of the weather conditions over the previous days, and cloudy weather prevailed with active winds stirring up sand, and a state of extreme emergency was declared in all sectors in anticipation of any emergency occurring.
The Operations and Crisis Management Center at the Governorate General Office confirmed, in a statement today, that all cities are experiencing partly cloudy weather, tending to warm during the day, and very cold at night, especially in the city of St. Catherine, and active sand-stirring winds, whose speed exceeded 38 kilometers per hour.
The Center explained that the navigational condition in the seaports is unstable, as a result of the activity of northwesterly winds, and the height of the waves ranged between 2 and 3 metres, stressing that navigational traffic is proceeding normally in the seaports so far, and the Center has not received any notifications indicating that navigational traffic has stopped.
Major General Khaled Mubarak, Governor of South Sinai, had directed the necessity of ensuring the readiness of heavy equipment and deploying it in the flood coordinates areas, and stressing the city leaders’ continuous monitoring of the beaches, and coordinating with traffic departments to deploy traffic campaigns and radars on international roads, and urging the reduction of the speed of cars and adherence to the prescribed speeds, and removing any sand accumulations left by the winds on these roads, in order to ensure the safety of travelers.
Temperatures varied from one city to another in the governorate, as the maximum temperature in the city of Tor Sinai reached 24 and the lowest was 13, in the great city of Ras Sidr it was 23 and the lowest was 11, in the great city of Taba it was 20 and the lowest was 9, the city of St. Catherine recorded a high of 15 and a low of 2, and the high in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh was 24 and a low of 14 degrees.
