This evening, civil protection men in the Esna Center in Luxor Governorate controlled a fire that broke out in a group of palm trees in the Al-Masawiya area near the Sheikh Mohammed Bridge, after columns of smoke rose into the sky of the village and sparked a state of anxiety among the residents.
Fire breaks out and spreads rapidly among crops
According to residents’ testimonies, the fire suddenly broke out in an area of palm trees adjacent to the residences, before the fire spread quickly due to the wind, which prompted citizens to inform the Civil Protection Operations Room, which sent several fire engines to the site of the report.
Urgent action from the Civil Protection Forces
Fire engines arrived at the fire scene within minutes, and the forces were able to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to residents’ homes or neighboring agricultural lands, in a response described as “quick and decisive.”
Civil protection sources confirmed that the efforts of firefighters succeeded in completely controlling the fire without recording any human casualties.

A number of residents of the area expressed their appreciation for the movement of the Civil Protection Forces and their success in containing the situation before the losses worsened, especially since the area is famous for its dense palm plantations, which increases flammability.

Sources explained that the competent authorities began inspecting the site of the fire to determine the initial causes, while the losses were being limited to the number of palm trees that were devoured by the fire.
