Execution of a man accused of killing his neighbor by suffocation and desecration of her body in Al-Darb Al-Ahmar

The ruling came in the presence and unanimously, after convicting the accused of intentionally killing the victim, Mona Sayed Ahmed Hassan, with premeditation and premeditation, and suffocating her using a head covering, without legal justification.

The case papers revealed that the accused grew up and was raised in the property owned by the victim’s family in the Darb al-Ahmar area, where he lived in an apartment on the ground floor, while the victim and her paralyzed mother lived on the first floor. According to what the court decided, the accused took the path of deviance, and was known for his abuse of narcotic substances and acts of bullying, and he even went so far as to steal his mother’s furniture before her death out of grief and grief due to his behavior.

Despite his behavior, the victim and her mother continued to be kind to him, offering him food and money. However, disagreements arose between the two parties during the two years preceding the incident, against the backdrop of thefts attributed to the accused and the filing of reports against him, including a report of insult and insult, and another theft, in addition to the victim’s objection to the accused hosting members of drug users and dealers inside the residence.

Investigations indicated that the accused had feelings of anger and lust, and three days before the incident, he intended to kill the victim, after he became certain that she rejected any illicit relationship. He developed a precise plan to monitor it on the property’s stairs at a time when the place was guaranteed to be empty, taking advantage of the nature of the property and the absence of residents except the two parties.

On the evening of April 8, 2025, as soon as the victim left her residence to buy a light bulb, the accused climbed the stairs of the property between the first and second floors, and hid, waiting for her return. After about half an hour, while the victim was starting to open the door to her apartment, he surprised her from behind, held her breath with his hand, and her head hit the apartment door. Then he took off her head covering, tied it around her neck, and suffocated her until she died.

The autopsy report proved that death resulted from suffocation, which led to blockage of the airways and injuries to the hyoid bone. After confirming her death, the accused dragged the body up the stairs of the property and brought it into his residence, where he uncovered her clothes in an attempt to sexually assault her, but he failed and fled.

The court based its ruling on the statements of a number of witnesses, most notably the victim’s mother, who heard a loud crash and a muffled groan before it stopped, then the sound of dragging on the stairs. It also relied on the investigations of the Assistant Investigations Officer at the Darb al-Ahmar Police Department, and the accused’s detailed confession of committing the incident during the Public Prosecution’s investigations, in addition to the autopsy and medical laboratory reports.

The court concluded that the accused had committed the crime of premeditated murder and possession of a tool used to assault people without justification. The crimes were considered inseparably linked, and the most severe penalty for the crime was applied.

The court affirmed in its findings that it did not find a place for clemency, and that just retribution requires the imposition of the death penalty, so it unanimously decided to execute the accused and oblige him to pay criminal expenses.
