Today’s Friday sermon at Al-Azhar Mosque was delivered by Dr. Rabie Al-Ghafir, Assistant Professor of Linguistics at Al-Azhar University, in which he spoke about “the scents of the month of Shaban,” explaining the great meanings of faith that this blessed month carries, and divine opportunities to renew the connection with God, and utilize the seasons of goodness.
Rabih al-Ghafir said that the Islamic nation is experiencing a blessed breeze for the sake of God’s blessings in time, citing the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: “Indeed, your Lord has in the days of your life blessings, so be exposed to them,” indicating that the blessings are times in which God is revealed to His servants, and He blesses them. deeds, and doubles the reward, stressing the necessity of receiving these outbursts with full preparation and awareness.
He explained that the reason for these blessings is the blessed month of Shaban, which is the month that the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, received well and used it, so he used to fast a lot in it, as the Mother of the Believers, Mrs. Aisha, may God be pleased with her, narrated: “I did not see the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, fasting in a month as much as he fasted in Shaban,” until the Companions said: “He used to fast all of Shaban.” He explained that the reason for this is what was mentioned in the hadith of Osama bin Zaid, may God be pleased with him, when he said: “I said: O Messenger of God, I have not seen you fast in any month as much as you fast in Sha’ban. He said: That is a month that people ignore between Rajab and Ramadan, and it is a month in which deeds are taken up to the Lord of the Worlds, and I would like my deeds to be taken up while I am fasting.”
Al-Azhar Mosque preacher: Shaban is the month of raising deeds and responding to supplications
The preacher at Al-Azhar Mosque explained that the month of Shaban has a great status. In it, God relieved the distress of His Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, and his family, and in it He answered his call to turn the qiblah, after the Muslims continued to turn to Jerusalem, until God Almighty revealed His saying: “We may see the turning of your face in the sky. So, We will turn to you a qiblah.” You are satisfied with it, so turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque, and wherever you are, turn your faces towards it.
Rabie Al-Ghafir referred to the Al-Ifk incident, in which ten clear verses from Surat Al-Nur were revealed, a constitution that will be recited until the Day of Resurrection, explaining that it carried for the nation great lessons in verifying the news, prohibiting rumours, warning against mistrust, and explaining the virtue of concealment, pardon, and forgiveness, and how affliction may be a great good that reveals the truths, strengthens the believers, and distinguishes between the truthful and the hypocritical, stressing that The innocence of the Mother of the Believers, Mrs. Aisha, may God be pleased with her, came by order of God and a statement of her status and virtue.
The Al-Azhar Mosque preacher concluded his sermon by emphasizing that the month of Shaban is the month of lifting up deeds, responding to supplications, and relieving distresses, calling on Muslims to fast a lot during it, to constantly recite the Holy Qur’an, and to exploit this great season of faith in getting closer to God, in preparation for the blessed month of Ramadan.
