The mayor of the Russian capital, Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, announced that the Russian air defense forces shot down two Ukrainian drones that were heading towards Moscow, during Sunday night.

Sobyanin said, in a post on social media, that “the Air Defense Forces of the Ministry of Defense destroyed a drone that was heading to Moscow,” noting that emergency teams were working at the site of the plane’s wreckage. About an hour later, it was announced that another drone had been shot down near the capital.

In a related context, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on Sunday evening that 71 Ukrainian drones had been shot down over six Russian regions, in addition to the waters of the Sea of ​​Azov, within just three hours, from 20:00 to 23:00 Moscow time.

The Ministry also announced earlier the destruction of 56 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory within four hours, in a noticeable escalation of drone air attacks.
