The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation in the United Arab Emirates announced that the normal working hours for employees in the private sector in the country during the holy month of Ramadan will be reduced by two hours per day.

Working hours during the month of Ramadan in the Emirates

The Ministry of Human Resources in the Emirates added in a statement that, regarding working hours during the holy month of Ramadan, private sector companies may, in accordance with their interest and nature of work, apply flexible work patterns or remote work within the limits of daily working hours specified during the days of the month of Ramadan.

She indicated that the decision comes in implementation of the executive regulations of Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021 regarding regulating labor relations and its amendments.

Working hours in Kuwait during the month of Ramadan

In another context, the Civil Service Commission in the State of Kuwait announced the amendment of official working hours in government agencies during the holy month of Ramadan, to be four and a half hours per day, with a flexible working hours system in the morning and evening shifts.

The Bureau stated, in External Circular No. 2 of 2026, that the decision comes based on External Circular No. 1 of 2024 regarding the organization of work during the month of Ramadan, in addition to Circular No. 12 of 2024 regarding the evening work system.

The circular explained that the start of work in the morning period will be flexible, between 8:30 am and 10:30 am, while allowing government agencies to set specific times for the start and end of work according to the interest of the work, with a commitment to proving the fingerprint according to the approved mechanism.
