Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Sadiq, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Qena, held an expanded meeting with the Directorate’s preventive medicine team, within the framework of the Health Directorate’s keenness to protect students and enhance safety procedures within educational facilities.
Cairo 24 reviews the measures taken to combat infectious diseases, especially in the winter:
- Activating daily surveillance for infectious diseases within schools
- Monitor any suspected cases and deal with them immediately
- Reviewing vaccination coverage rates to ensure that services are accessible to all students
- Intensifying food control work within educational facilities and ensuring compliance with health standards
- Raising the readiness of field teams and training them on rapid intervention in emergency situations.
Dr. Samar Atef, Undersecretary of the Directorate, Dr. Nahla Mohamed Gad Al Karim, Director of the Preventive Medicine Department, and Dr. Mohamed Jaber, Director of the Surveillance Department, participated in the meeting.
The Undersecretary stressed the necessity of concerted efforts of preventive medicine teams to ensure rapid response to any health emergency, and to enhance the efficiency of prevention programs within the governorate, ensuring the provision of high-quality health services within schools and the educational environment.
It is worth noting that the meeting witnessed a discussion of coordination mechanisms between the Directorate of Health, the Directorate of Education, and Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, to ensure the implementation of protocols for early detection, control, and prevention of the spread of diseases among students, in addition to following up on the implementation of preventive vaccination programs within schools.
