Yesterday evening, Tuesday, thousands of Copts in Qena performed the Christmas Mass in various churches, amid overwhelming joy.
Copts of Qena celebrate Christmas
The security services strengthened their presence around churches to secure Christmas celebrations, by securing the entrances and exits of the city and villages, and setting up fixed and mobile ambushes.
Earlier, Dr. Khaled Abdel Halim, Governor of Qena, sent a telegram of congratulations to His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Mark, on the occasion of Christmas, expressing his sincere heartfelt congratulations on this blessed occasion.
The text of the telegram stated: I am pleased to send to Your Holiness, on my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Qena Governorate, my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of Merry Christmas, praying to God Almighty to restore these blessed days to Your Holiness with good health and wellness, and to our dear Egypt and its great people with more security, safety, love and peace under the leadership of His Excellency Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.
In the same context, the Governor of Qena sent similar congratulatory cables to Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, Acting Minister of Environment, Major General Moheb Habashi Khalil, Governor of Port Said, and Dr. Jacqueline Azer, Governor of Beheira, on the occasion of the celebration of Christmas, stressing his pride in the spirit of love and national cohesion that brings together the Egyptian people, which embodies the strength of the national fabric and unity of ranks.
