
The journalist said Khaled Abu BakrPresenting the outcomes of party meetings to the public is an essential step to ensure transparency and accountability, stressing that the citizen must know what was agreed upon between the government and the parties.
Abu Bakr, presenter of the “Akher Al-Nahar” program, on Al-Nahar channel, added that discussions related to tax amendments to private housing, for example, should clearly document and reflect the official positions of the party and the government.
Abu Bakr added that the participation of representatives in such meetings reflects their desire to follow public policy and hold officials accountable, but he stressed that these meetings must be characterized by objectivity and present all details to citizens, not just appearances or pictures.
Abu Bakr pointed out that this practice represents a new experience in Egyptian political life, and is an indication of a tendency toward a true parliamentary culture, where parties and the people become constantly informed of what is being discussed and the decisions that are taken, thus enhancing democracy and accountability.
