Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of Sohag University, opened the activities of the sixth annual conference of the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Abdel Latif Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Osama Al-Sharif, Professor of Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery and former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Dr. Mohamed Nasr El-Din Hamdoun, Vice President of the Faculty of Medicine for Education and Student Affairs.

Al-Nomani said that this conference is one of the prominent scientific events that the university is keen to support annually, because of its pivotal role in developing the skills of doctors, enhancing scientific research, and exchanging experiences between Egyptian universities. He pointed out that the participation of professors from various specializations enriches the scientific discussion and contributes to improving the quality of medical services provided to citizens. He stressed that the university will continue to support the clinical departments to provide distinguished practical training, praising the efforts of the ENT department in organizing a conference with this level of scientific diversity and workshops. Dr. Magdy Al-Qadi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, also confirmed that the college’s successes are due to the vision of the university’s leadership headed by Dr. Hassan Al-Nomani and its constant keenness to provide an integrated educational and research environment befitting the status of the College of Medicine. The conference witnesses wide participation from the universities of Alexandria, Zagazig, Assiut, Qena, Tanta, Mansoura, Cairo, and Aswan, which reflects its position as one of the most important specialized scientific gatherings. He explained that the scientific program includes a number of specialized workshops in Laryngeal and tracheal surgeries and plastic nose surgeries, with the participation of an elite group of professors specialized in this field.

Dr. Mohamed Abdel Ghaffar, Vice Dean of the College of Medicine for Community Service Affairs and Chairman of the Conference, explained that the conference includes two workshops organized by the Speech Unit on the interaction between breathing, feeding, and swallowing in children, in addition to a workshop by the Audiology Unit that reviews the latest developments in hearing and balance medicine, adding that the scientific sessions discuss the new specialties in forensic medicine in the field of ear, nose, and throat, laryngeal cancer studies, nose and ear surgeries using an endoscope, and base of the skull infections resulting from external ear infections.

Dr. Mohamed Abdel Qader, the honorary president of the conference, expressed his pride in the scientific and organizational level that the conference has reached over the past years, stressing that it has become an important platform for exchanging experiences and following up on the latest medical developments locally and globally.

He pointed out that the participation of this number of professors and universities reflects the growing confidence in the scientific content presented by the conference every year.
