In another context, the Mu’tazila artist Hala Shiha posted a video on her YouTube page, in which she talked about her experience with wearing the hijab.
Hala Shiha said: “Before I became veiled in the first place at all, my younger sister was veiled for a short period, and I was one of the first people who was against the veil, and I see why this is so, and why do you wear the veil, you don’t need it, and God does not want you to do that.”
Hala Shiha continued: “I was the first person to fight this story out of ignorance, and this is what I used to see and hear around me, and that the veil became strict.”
She continued: “During this period, I was talking to God and praying that if the hijab was an obligation, He would love me in it, and He would show me that it was an obligation, and I began to read the Holy Qur’an, especially the surahs that talk about the hijab, such as Surah Al-Nur.”
