The El Gouna team booked a ticket to the round of 16 of the Egypt Cup after defeating Assiut Petroleum by two goals to one, in the match that was held this Thursday afternoon at Khaled Bishara Stadium in Hurghada as part of the round of 32 competitions.
The confrontation began with a balanced rhythm between the two sides, before El Gouna succeeded in advancing through Ahmed Abdel Rasoul in the 56th minute, taking advantage of defensive confusion inside the penalty area.
In the 72nd minute, Mohamed El Nahhas increased the score with a second goal after an organized attack that he ended with a powerful shot into the net.
Assiut Petroleum tried to return to the match, and was able to reduce the difference in the 80th minute, but El Gouna maintained its lead until the final whistle.
With this victory, El Gouna officially joins the list of qualifiers for the round of 16 of the Egypt Cup, while Assiut Petroleum leaves the tournament.
