The Directorate of Health Affairs in Luxor intensified its efforts to spread health awareness, in conjunction with the activities of the World Bacterial Resistance Week, by implementing a wide series of educational seminars within schools, institutes and health units in various centers of the governorate.
Expanded awareness efforts during World Antibacterial Week
These efforts come in implementation of the directives of Engineer Abdel Muttalib Emara, Governor of Luxor, and under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Abu Al-Atta, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health.


Comprehensive coverage in schools and health units
Dr. Diana Hamdi, Director of the Health Education Department, explained that the awareness teams carried out seminars in a large number of educational and health facilities, including: Al-Mansheya Family Medicine Unit, Al-Ashi Unit, Al-Bayadiya Al-Azhari Primary Institute, the Boys’ Institute in Armant Al-Wabourat, Al-Zinia Qebli Unit, Al-Bayadiya Boys’ Institute, Al-Qurna Center and City, Al-Bayadiya Preparatory School for Girls,


Ammar bin Yasser School, Al-Radi Mosque in Naga Al-Tawil, Al-Bayadiya Girls Preparatory Institute, Naga Mekky Preparatory School, Al-Habil Al-Azhari Primary Institute, Al-Madamud Shorouk Unit, the Health Unit in Al-Mataya, and the Al-Kayman Unit in Esna, in addition to the Bahaa Taher Palace of Culture.
Seminar topics: bacterial resistance and misuse of antibiotics
According to the Health Education Department, the seminars covered vital topics, most notably: the dangers of misuse of antibiotics and high rates of bacterial resistance, respiratory diseases and winter diseases and how to raise immunity, the importance of seasonal vaccinations, infectious viruses and methods of prevention and personal hygiene, and the health impact of excessive use of medications without a prescription.


Coordination between health, education, endowments and veterinary medicine
The seminars were implemented in cooperation with Dr. Safwat Jareh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in Luxor, the Endowments Directorate led by Sheikh Ali Siddiq Amir, and Dr. Tariq Lotfy, Director of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate.
