Today, Wednesday, December 10, is the birthday of screenwriter and producer Mamdouh El-Laithi, one of the most prominent drama and film makers in Egypt, and one who has an unforgettable mark on the history of Egyptian art.

The journalist mourned Dr Amr Al-Laithi His father, through his social media accounts, said: Your birthday is in heaven, my beloved, God willing.. Oh God, forgive him and have mercy on him as he raised me when I was young. Oh God, have mercy on all our dead and reward them with the best reward.

Anniversary of the birth of producer Mamdouh El-Laithi

Mamdouh El-Laithi was born on this day in 1937. During his long career, he presented dozens of important works that became landmarks in Egyptian drama and cinema. He founded the Egyptian television production sector in the mid-seventies, becoming a gateway to launching first-class stars, and contributing to presenting hundreds of dramatic and cinematic works that are still present in the public’s conscience.

Al-Laithi left behind a huge legacy. During his presidency, the production sector contributed to the production of about 7,000 hours of drama, 400 feature films, and 600 documentary films. He also held many influential positions, including: Head of the Script Department, Script Controller, General Director of Television Films, and Head of the Production Sector at the Radio and Television Union, in addition to his presidency of the Egyptian Society of Film Writers and Critics and the Cinematographers Syndicate previously.

Among the most prominent dramatic works he presented are: Raafat Al-Hagan, with its three parts, which has become one of the most important national works in the history of drama, starring Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, Yousra, Youssef Shaaban and others, I Will Not Live in My Father’s Robe starring Nour Al-Sharif and Abla Kamel, Al-Mal and Sons, The Family, Layali Al-Helmeya, and other masterpieces of drama that established his position as one of the pillars of Egyptian art.

He also presented a number of important religious series, such as: The Judiciary in Islam, Muhammad is the Messenger of God, The Holy Kaaba, and Abu Hanifa Al-Numan.

As for cinema, he participated in producing and writing a group of the most important films, including: Miramar, Gossip over the Nile, Al-Sukkariyya, Karnak, The Sinners, The Princess of My Love, I Do Not Lie, But I Beautify, Nasser 56, and The Road to Eilat.

The deceased was one of the first to present Ramadan fawazir in the eighties and nineties of the last century, through works that immortalized the names of Nelly and Sherihan, in addition to special occasion fawazir with Yahya Al-Fakharani and Hala Fouad.

Mamdouh El-Laithi has passed away, but his huge artistic legacy is still present in the conscience of Egyptians, and his works are shown to this day on various screens, achieving high viewership rates, making him remain one of the most important drama makers in the golden age of Egyptian television.
