Dr. Walid Hindi, a mental health consultant, warned of the danger of what is known as Tea cup trend Or “hot water,” stressing that these challenges spread across social networking sites are not just passing actions or jokes, but they carry dangerous psychological and behavioral dimensions that may lead to harm to oneself and others.

Hindi added, during television statements, that these trends began with seemingly simple challenges, such as challenging ice or sitting in very cold temperatures, and then developed into more dangerous behaviors, such as pouring hot water, indicating that the search for trend and fame may hide behind it real psychological problems among those who carry out these actions or participate in them.

Urgent medical warning about the dangers of the tea cup trend

Hindi explained that some of these behaviors reflect aggressive tendencies or underlying psychological disorders, as aggressive behavior sometimes turns from direct bullying to practices presented in the context of mockery or laughter, but in reality they represent an insult to human dignity and normalization of pain and violence, stressing that the continuous repetition of such scenes creates a state of psychological dullness in individuals.

The mental health consultant pointed out that participation in these trends may reflect sadistic traits in some who enjoy harming others, or masochistic traits in those who accept harming themselves in order to attract attention, explaining that social media may contribute to enhancing this behavior through widespread circulation and high views, which leads to a loss of the sense of pain or danger.

He stressed that some of the participants in these challenges are only seeking fame and attracting attention, pointing out that there are personalities who naturally tend to constantly appear and love the spotlight, and who seek interaction and admiration by any means, even if it is at the expense of their psychological and physical health.

Dr. Walid Hindi warned of the direct health risks of these trends, such as sudden biological changes, heart rhythm disturbances, high blood pressure, and serious health problems that may threaten life, stressing the necessity of not being led by blind imitation or pursuing the trend at the expense of the human soul, and calling for increased family and media awareness to confront these negative phenomena.
