Engineer Karim Badawi was keen Minister of Petroleum And Mineral Resources visited the headquarters of the Modern Drilling Company (MDC), one of the Egyptian petroleum sector companies, and its operations area in the Wafra field, where the company works in Kuwait as a contractor for drilling, maintaining and repairing oil wells as part of the expansion of its business outside Egypt, at the beginning of his visit to the sister State of Kuwait to participate in the ministerial meeting of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) tomorrow, Sunday.
Minister of Petroleum: Modern Drilling Company is an honorable model for Egyptian performance abroad
The Minister met with employees of the company’s branch in the presence of Engineer Tamer Salah, President of the Modern Drilling Company, and Engineer Haitham Fikri, General Manager of the company’s branch in Kuwait.
The Minister stressed that what Modern Drilling is doing in Kuwait represents an honorable model for Egyptian companies operating abroad, in light of the efficiency it has achieved in implementing specialized work in a global project such as the Wafra field with high quality.

During the visit, the Minister met with Engineer Abdullah Al-Otaibi, General Manager of the Wafra Joint Operations Company (WJO), where the ongoing activities, performance rates and the role of the Modern Drilling Company were reviewed.
Engineer Tamer Salah El-Din, President of the Modern Drilling Company, explained that the company supports well maintenance and repair work by operating about 7 well maintenance rigs and 8 well repair teams in the concession areas in both the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the expansion of business, pointing out that the company received the Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Protection Award as the best well drilling and well maintenance contractor for its work in the State of Kuwait, for its excellence in safety systems.
After that, the Minister went to one of the company’s excavator sites, followed the progress of operations in the field, and was assured of compliance with occupational safety and health standards. He was keen to meet the site workers and urge them to continue safe work and to make more efforts to enhance the company’s business outside Egypt.
The Minister also held an open meeting with workers at the company’s camp in the Wafra oil fields area, stressing that the safety of workers is a top priority, stressing the importance of adhering to the highest standards of performance and discipline, and that workers abroad represent Egypt best in the sisterly Arab countries.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources sent a message of thanks and appreciation to all officials and employees of the Modern Drilling Company, praising the spirit of belonging, commitment and efforts made, which enhances the positive image of the ability of Egyptian companies to compete and succeed regionally and internationally.
The minister was accompanied during the visit by Eng. Salah Abdel Karim, CEO of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, Eng. Mahmoud Abdel Hamid, Executive Managing Director of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (“EGAS”), and Dr. Samir Raslan, Undersecretary for Agreements and Exploration.
