The competent investigation authorities in Qalyubia are continuing investigations into the incident of three unemployed people seizing a sum of money from a driver using an impersonation method, after they were arrested by the security services of the Ministry of Interior after a video clip of the incident was circulated on social media sites.
The details of the accident go back to what the video clip showed of a driver being suddenly stopped while he was traveling on the ring road in the Qalyoub Center area, where three people riding in a private car impersonated an incorrect identity and seized sums of money from him in foreign currency.
Upon security examination, it was revealed that there were no prior official reports regarding the incident, but it was possible to determine the identity of the victim, a driver residing in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, who confirmed in his statements that on November 27, the defendants stopped him, ignored him, and seized the money.
The security services were able to identify and arrest the perpetrators, who were 3 unemployed persons with criminal information, residing in Cairo and Qalyubia governorates. They found in their possession an audio drum and 4 plastic skeleton wireless devices, in addition to the car used to commit the crime and the amount of money seized. Upon confronting them, the defendants confessed to committing the incident as referred to.
The competent investigation authorities continue to take the necessary legal measures and hear the statements of the victim and the accused.
