Dakahlia Governorate is witnessing the implementation of an expanded package of road and bridge projects, with a total of 20 projects distributed between the Roads and Transport Directorate and the Roads and Bridges Authority, at a total cost exceeding 3 billion pounds, within the framework of the state’s plan to develop infrastructure, raise the efficiency of the traffic network, achieve traffic fluidity, and reduce accidents.
The data showed that the Roads and Transport Directorate is implementing 14 projects at a cost of tens of millions of pounds, most notably the completion of the strengthening and repaving of the Nabarouh/Tanikh road at a cost of 15.186 million pounds and an implementation rate of 51%, and the Shawa-Borg El Nour road at a cost of 33.872 million pounds and an implementation rate of 76.3%, in addition to the Vasco Galia-Belqas road at a cost of 30 million pounds and an implementation rate of 42%.
The projects also include developing and paving the Nabarouh/Bahout road until the end of the residential block with an implementation rate of 82% and a cost of 19.885 million pounds, and strengthening and repaving Taraat al-Mansourieh Street (the left side) with an implementation rate of 63% and a cost of 19.765 million pounds, in addition to the El Geneina al-Tahri-Minyat al-Nasr road with an implementation rate of 61%.
The plan included a number of coverage projects, including covering the Mit al-Halluj janaba at a cost of 18.05 million pounds and an implementation rate of 19%, covering the western Mit al-Sudan janaba at a cost of 24.418 million pounds, and covering the Umm Samak Canal in Belqas at a cost of 21.742 million pounds and an implementation rate of 29%.
The projects also included completing and paving the Al-Taweel Road in Manzala, strengthening and repaving the Azab El-Shennawy/Nazareth Road in Mansoura Center, and the Abu Al-Maati El-Baz Road in Beni Ubaid, in addition to the road between Senfa and Brahmatosh Al-Gharbi (Al-Qantara Link), with implementation rates ranging between 23% and 35%.
In the same context, the Roads and Bridges Authority is implementing 6 major projects, including the construction of the free road east of Al-Riyah Al-Tawfiqi (Sector Two), which includes the Mit Naji Bridge at a cost of 457 million pounds and a 19% implementation rate, the Sindh Pile Bridge at a cost of 70 million pounds and a 63% implementation rate, and the Kafr Al-Sharaqwa Bridge at a cost of 578 million pounds and a 20% implementation rate.
The projects also include the implementation of concrete service roads for trucks on the international coastal road in the direction of Alexandria, with a length of 17 km, at a total cost exceeding 1.1 billion pounds, with implementation rates reaching 54.8% and 76.5%, in addition to completing the duplication of the Sherbin/Farskur (eastern Damietta) axis, with a length of 25 km and a cost of 799 million pounds, whose implementation rate reached 91%.
The implementing authorities indicated that most of the projects are included in the investment plan, but the financial allocations available during the current fiscal year are less than the total cost, which represents one of the challenges, with an emphasis on the continuation of work to complete the projects according to the specified timetables until 2026.
