Trump wrote in his post: “In cooperation with the wonderful Governor of Louisiana, Jeff LandryWe will send a wonderful medical ship to Greenland to care for the many patients who are not receiving care there. She’s on her way!”
It was not clear whether Greenland had requested additional medical assistance or why Trump suggested its residents were not receiving proper care.
Trump appointed Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry (Republican) as his envoy to the Arctic country in December.
Trump reportedly threatened to seize Greenland from Denmark in the name of national security, due to its proximity to Russia and China.
Both Greenland and Denmark have strongly protested Trump’s proposal, and in January, Denmark led the deployment of forces to the region with the support of NATO allies, including France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Finland, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
Trump told CNN’s Joe Kiernan CNBC At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, he said he had reached a “concept of agreement” with the NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Trump added: “I think it would be a very good deal for the United States.” [ولهم أيضًا]. We will work together on the Arctic as a whole, as well as Greenland. “It’s about security – great security, strong security, and other things.”
During his speech at the forum, Trump reiterated his desire to acquire Greenland, but stressed that he does not plan to seize the land by force as he has hinted in the past.
